A woman was seriously injured in a crash Thursday morning on Sunrise Highway in East Patchogue.

Police say the accident happened on the westbound side near Exit 54. The road was closed for several hours but has since reopened.

According to police, Stephanie Vilien-Morisseau was driving a 2007 Altima when the tire blew and caused her to swerve across the lanes. They say the car then collided with a Dodge Ram pickup truck.

Police say Vilien-Morisseau's car then hit a guardrail. She was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the pickup truck suffered minor injuries.
