Police say a woman appears to have drowned in Centre Island Saturday morning.

Detectives say police received a call for a man and woman on a boat just off of Montecito Drive around 9 a.m.

The Nassau County Aviation Unit responded and she was taken to a local hospital where she died a short time later.
