Westhampton Beach police arrested a teen after he allegedly made violent threats to his classmates at Westhampton Middle School Thursday.
A 13-year-old student is accused of telling other students that he was going to "shoot the school" because he was annoyed and frustrated with other students.
Police say the teen made references to the recent Uvalde shooting, and told students he was being picked on and this was the only way to solve the problem.
The incident was reported by school officials to the Westhampton Beach police school resource officer and then investigated by the Criminal Investigations Unit and Southampton Town Police detectives.
The 13-year-old was charged with making a terroristic threat and aggravated harassment.
Westhampton Beach police will have increased presence in the school district.
