A Virginia man is accused of trying to steal a boat in Manorhaven.

Police say witnesses saw Benjamin Fields, 47, standing on a boat that was not his on the docks on Matinicock Avenue.

News 12 has been told when he was approached, Fields untied the boat from the dock, causing it to crash into another docked boat and damaging it.

Police say Fields tried to run away, but officers were able to arrest him a short time later.

Fields is facing grand larceny and criminal mischief charges.
