Police have released more information about the SUV that hit and killed a 64-year-old man in Central Islip.
Police say it was a 2014 or 2015 silver or gray Jeep Cherokee that hit and killed Lorenzo Fuentes early Sunday morning along Motor Parkway near Caleb's Path. They believe the Jeep was a Limited or Sports Latitude edition.
The victim's daughter, Veronica Fuentes, says her father was walking 3 miles to a Hauppauge mounding factory where he worked. She said he was walking because there is no bus running before 5 a.m.
According to her daughter, Fuentes was not scheduled to work Sunday morning, but was coming in to lend an extra hand.
Detectives say they recovered part of a passenger mirror and headlight from the scene, which led them to the make and model of the vehicle.
Anyone with information is asked to call Suffolk Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
