Police: Two employees at Eastern Suffolk BOCES injured by hit-and-run driver

A 31-year-old man was seriously hurt, and a 41-year-old woman was also injured. Both were taken to Long Island Community Hospital and are expected to survive.

Two workers at Eastern Suffolk BOCES in North Bellport were injured by a hit-and-run driver Monday morning, according to police.

It happened at 8:35 a.m. in the parking lot of the school on Martha Avenue.

A 31-year-old man was seriously hurt, and a 41-year-old woman was also injured. Both were taken to Long Island Community Hospital and are expected to survive.

According to a spokesperson for Eastern Suffolk BOCES, the injured employees are teaching aides.

The spokesperson wrote, “Our thoughts are with our injured staff members and their families during this difficult time. They will receive our agency’s full support as they recover.”

Mental health services will be made available for students and staff affected by the incident.

The hit-and-run driver has not been found. Anyone with information is asked to call police
