Police: 1 arrested after fleeing traffic stop, crash in Baldwin

A driver in a 2015 gray Toyota refused to stop and fled the scene in Hempstead before crashing in Baldwin, authorities say.

Police say one person has been arrested following a crash in Baldwin.
Detectives conducting an investigation say they attempted to initiate a traffic stop at the intersection of West Marshall Street and Virginia Avenue in Hempstead.
A driver in a 2015 gray Toyota refused to stop and fled the scene, authorities say. Detectives lost sight of the vehicle and began to canvass for it.
A short time later, police say officers came upon a two-car accident at the intersection of Grand and Woodside avenues in Baldwin.
The crash involved the Toyota and an uninvolved vehicle.
The occupants of the Toyota fled the scene on foot, authorities say. One of the occupants was placed into police custody in close proximity to the crash. The second occupant was not apprehended.
There was one minor injury involved in the accident.
Tyshawn Cullum, 26, of Uniondale, is charged with obstructing governmental administration. He was released on an appearance ticket.
