Suffolk police say a Medford teen was found with fatal gunshot wounds inside of a crashed BMW overnight in Coram.
Officers say they responded to the intersection of Beach Lane and Judith Drive shortly after 12:30 a.m. Sunday for a 911 call about shots fired.
There they found 18-year-old Jaifield Gordon in the driver's seat of a 2013 BMW that had crashed into a parked car and fence in front of a home on Beach Drive. They say Gordon had been shot.
Gordon was still alive when he was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
Detectives say they believe the shooting occurred on nearby Judith Drive. They believe the shooting stemmed from an argument, and that Gordon had attempted to drive away from his attacker.
Police are asking anyone with information to call the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392, or to call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-220-TIPS.
