Police: Smithtown HS East evacuated after graffiti found that could be perceived as a threat

All after-school activities were canceled while Suffolk County police evaluated the safety and security of the building.

Smithtown High School East was evacuated Wednesday afternoon due to graffiti that police say could be perceived as a nonspecific threat.
The school says the graffiti was found in a restroom around 1 p.m.
All after-school activities were canceled while Suffolk County police evaluated the safety and security of the building.
There is no word yet whether the school will be open on Thursday.
