News 12 Long Island has learned human remains were found behind a home in Centereach.

Police were called to Jay Road around 5:30 p.m. Sunday, where the caller reported finding skeletal remains.

The remains are now being examined by the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

Police are not releasing any other information at this time.

They are asking anyone with information to contact the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392.
