Police arrested a brother and sister on drug charges following a traffic stop in Bethpage Wednesday.
Police say officers stopped the car near Collector Lane around 10 p.m. because it failed to signal. During the investigation, officers discovered over 100 decks of heroin in the vehicle.
Officials say that a passenger, 24-year-old Steven Scheufler, of Flushing, was attempting to conceal numerous glassine envelopes containing heroin into his pants. Police say they also found six Ambien pills.
Scheufler was placed under arrest along with the driver, Mandy Kougianos, 28, and her brother, Nikolas Kougianos, 25, both of 61 Cheshire Road in Bethpage.
Scheufler is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree and four counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree.
Mandy and Nikolas Kougianos are both charged with three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree.
Investigators say that the three were street dealers and were most likely on their way to sell the heroin when they were stopped.
Scheufler is being held on $100,000 bail. The brother and sister were given appearance tickets.
All three of them will be back in court next week.
