Suffolk police raided and shut down a popular Port Jefferson bar early Tuesday.
Police say underage drinking was one of the many violations that ended with the shutdown of Harleys and Honeys. Authorities say there were more than 300 patrons in the bar at the time of the raid, more than six times the legal limit of 50. Brookhaven Fire Marshal Salvatore Garafalo says there were electrical violations, a faulty fire alarm system and un-illuminated exit signs. Five people were also arrested.
The bar received 17 citations in total. Garafalo says the business will probably be permitted to reopen if all violations are corrected. The Village of Port Jefferson and the State Liquor Authority will make the final decision on the bar?s fate.
