Police say a security guard shot a suspect during a bank robbery in Franklin Square.
The incident happened just after 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Chase bank on Franklin Avenue.
Police say a man walked into the bank, announced the robbery and pointed a handgun at two security guards. One of them then unholstered his weapon and shot the suspect multiple times, according to police.
The bank had about seven employees and eight customers inside at the time of the incident.
The man was taken to Franklin Hospital for treatment. Police say he is in stable condition and they have started talking to him.
Police say the security guard who foiled the robbery is a retired member of law enforcement.
