The recent arrests of several suspected thieves at a Copiague donut shop have Suffolk police optimistic they can end a string of robberies that began in November.
Police officer Keith Charley arrested one of three suspected robbers at a Dunkin Donuts in Copiague last week. The suspect, 17-year-old Raquan Wright, named his accomplices as 18-year-old Barry Prather and 17-year-old Shawn Walker. The two men were also arrested.
Police believe these three arrests will provide several leads into a band of robbers hitting donut shops and other small businesses in Copiague and Amityville. The thieves have also held up individuals, including a 13-year-old and 16-year-old on Sunrise Highway the day after Christmas. The Dunkin Donuts targeted last week was also the site of the first robbery in November.
