A man was fatally shot while sitting in a parked car in a West Babylon residential neighborhood.

Police say 32-year-old Daniel Smith, of Roosevelt, was sitting in a car on Schenectady Avenue and Essex Street around 11:15 p.m. Sunday.

That's when he was struck by multiple gunshots, fired from outside the car, according to police.

The shooter took off, and Smith died at the scene, authorities say.
