Suffolk and Nassau police are reacting to President Trump's suggestion they be rough with suspects.
"Please don't be too nice," the President said at Suffolk Community College on Friday. "Like when you guys put somebody in the car and you're protecting their head, you know, the way you put their hand over...you can take the hand away, okay?"
Suffolk police condemned the practice, writing on Twitter that they have strict rules and procedures for handling prisoners and that they will not tolerate roughing up prisoners.
Nassau police responded by saying they train officers to ensure all individuals arrive in a safe manner.
