Man shot in face, chest while sitting in pickup
A gunman remains on the loose after shooting and seriously injuring a man sitting in a truck in Deer Park.
Police say a 35-year-old man was shot in the face and chest while sitting in a white pickup truck at the corner of Deer Park Boulevard and Emerson Street. The shooting happened at 2 in the morning.
The shooting victim survived and is in the hospital.
News 12 has learned that investigators believe it was a targeted shooting. A woman answering the door at the house where the shooting happened in front of said she didn't want to talk about it. Aditi Mody says the truck belongs to someone who often visits her neighbor.
“It's parked all the time right outside our curb, so we just figured it was some close family friend,” says Mody.
People who live on the block say that targeted or not, a shooting of any kind is unusual in the area.
Suffolk police would not tell News 12 what they believe the motive is at this point. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS.
