Police say a pedestrian was struck and killed in West Hempstead.
The incident happened as the man was trying to cross Hempstead Turnpike near Westminster Road.
According to police, the man was hit by an SUV around 8:20 p.m. Sunday.
The 46-year-old victim was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The victim's name is being withheld until his family is notified.
The driver that hit him stayed at the scene and is not facing charges at this time.
