Police: Pedestrian fatally struck in Freeport

According to police, the incident happened at the intersection of Henry Street and East Merrick Avenue just before 6:30 p.m.

Police say a pedestrian was struck and killed in Freeport on Wednesday evening.
According to police, the incident happened at the intersection of Henry Street and East Merrick Avenue just before 6:30 p.m.
Police say an SUV struck the victim. The 67-year-old driver stayed at the scene.
While the victim was lying in the road, police say he was also struck by a car. Police say that driver initially stopped at the scene but then took off.
Detectives are searching for the second driver. There are surveillance cameras at the intersection that they are looking at.
The victim, who is 32 years old, has not been identified.
Police are asking anyone with information to call them.
