Police say a Valley Stream man has died after being fatally struck in Commack Wednesday night.

Detectives say 63-year-old Julio Monteiro was walking southbound on Veterans Memorial Highway just east of Jericho Turnpike around 10:30 p.m.

That is when police say he was hit by a Kia Soul.

Monteiro was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police say the driver was not injured, stayed on the scene and is not facing charges at this time.
