Police say a man was fatally struck by a car while crossing a street in Copiague.

Detectives say a 61-year-old man was walking Great Neck Road near Oak Street when he was struck by a Toyota Corolla.

The incident happened on Sunday around 8 p.m.

The victim was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

His name is not being released at this time.

The 34-year-old driver of the car was not hurt and stayed on the scene.
