Police say a woman was fatally struck by a car in Mount Sinai on Thursday night.

According to police, Ann Marie Montgomery was heading westbound on northbound County Road 83, north of Canal Road, when she was struck in the left lane by a truck around 10:53 p.m.

Montgomery, 42, of Holtsville, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, 57, of Mt. Sinai, was not injured.

The truck was impounded for a safety check.
