Police: Pedestrian critically injured in Elmont crash; driver charged with leaving scene

The 57-year-old victim remains hospitalized in critical condition, according to authorities.

A man accused of hitting a 57-year-old pedestrian with his car and then fleeing the scene was arrested Friday in Elmont, according to police.

Authorities say 49-year-old Oscar Guzman was driving westbound on the Hempstead Turnpike just before 7 a.m. when he struck the man.

The victim was hospitalized and remains in critical condition. Guzman is set to be arranged on Saturday.
