A motorcyclist was dragged more than 500 feet in a hit-and-run crash in Wading River Friday night.
Police say Lee Lopez, 21, of Rocky Point, was riding east on Route 25A when his motorcycle was rear-ended by a vehicle behind him.
Lopez told News 12 Long Island that he feels "more than lucky" to have survived the crash with minor injuries.
"Most people who get into incidents like this don't turn out like me," he says.
Lopez sustained a fractured elbow, two sprained ankles and needed stitches in his face. He was helped by at least three good Samaritans who took him out of the road. They waited with him until his mother got to the scene.
"They took the time, they were amazing," says Linda Lopez.
Police say the car that struck Lopez left car parts at the scene that were filed as evidence.
Riverhead Town police are urging anyone with information about the incident to call them at 631-727-4500.
