A missing infant from Hampton Bays is safe Thursday after being found miles away from home.
Southampton police say she was kidnapped by her mother, who lost custody of the child in January.
Police say Sarah Payne, of Shelter Island, took her 6-month-old and fled to Wilmington, Delaware on Tuesday.
The baby's father reported the child missing and police say with the help of U.S. Marshals, the child and Payne were found in Delaware safe.
Payne, 34, is facing a number of charges including kidnapping. Payne will be extradited from Delaware.
