Police say a young man was shot in Wyandanch just days after a teen was gunned down there.
Police say a group of people was hanging outside a home on South 25th Street when they were shot at around 9 p.m. Thursday.
According to police, an unidentified 21-year-old man was hit and rushed to the hospital.
The shooting on Thursday comes just days after a deadly shooting a few miles away. In that shooting, an 18-year-old who had just graduated high school was killed.
No arrests have been made at this time.
Suffolk County Police Commissioner Tim Sini says he's added more officers to the gang unit in the 1st Precinct and that the department is taking additional measures in the community.
Community activist Debra Stirling, of the organization SNUG, is reaching out to victims impacted by gun violence.
"We have one central message and that's stop the shooting, stop the killing across the board. We don't want to see anyone hurt," she says.
