A Far Rockaway man is accused of shoving a Dollar Tree employee to the ground after leaving the store without paying, and police say they found more than stolen merchandise when they searched his bag.

Nassau County police said 64‑year‑old Brandon McFadden was seen by an employee at a Dollar Tree in North Lawrence taking items off the shelves and hiding them in a bag.

When the 41‑year‑old worker confronted him after he allegedly passed all points of sale without paying, he pushed her to the floor and fled, police said.

Officers located McFadden a short time later and took him into custody.

During the investigation, police said they recovered the store merchandise along with two glass pipes and a white powdery residue believed to be crack cocaine.

McFadden is charged with robbery and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
