A man seriously injured himself while lighting fireworks in Copiague on the Fourth of July, police say.
Police say 21-year-old Ryan McCloskey was lighting a firework on Trouville Road when it exploded in his hand.
The explosion severed three fingers on his left hand.
McCloskey also suffered a burn to his leg.
