It happened March 11 at the Shell Gas Station at 99 Bridgeport Ave.

Police say 34-year-old Steve Nakhoune arrived at the station in a stolen pickup truck and an associate of his was traveling alongside in a Toyota Camry.

Detectives identified Nakhoune as the suspect and charged him with robbery.

Authorities say that two days before the robbery, Nakhoune was released from custody on a court-set bond following a separate strong-arm robbery that occurred in February also in Shelton.

After the March incident, Nakhoune and his associates participated in a multistate crime spree throughout New England and committed numerous larcenies, burglaries, and robberies. They were also involved in pursuits with law enforcement across Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont and New Hampshire.

On March 14, Nakhoune was apprehended by police in Northampton, Massachusetts with help from the Massachusetts State Police.

He was extradited to Connecticut on March 19 and charged with robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, larceny and assault of an elderly person. He is being held on a $750,000 court-set bond.
