An East Patchogue man faces weapons charges after a semi-automatic rifle was found in a hotel room at Jake's 58 Casino in Islandia.
Raymond Hansen, 25, brought the rifle and two loaded magazines into the hotel, according to police.
Authorities say a security manager for the hotel was investigating reports of a dog barking when he entered the unoccupied room, saw the weapon on the floor and called 911.

“It appears that he actually brought the rifle into the hotel room under his jacket, and at some point went into his hotel room and kept it with contraband including marijuana,” says DA Tim Sini.

Hansen was arrested when he went back to his room while police were investigating. Three other people were also staying inside that room.
Police say it appears Hansen did not intend to use the weapon to cause harm. A spokesperson for Jake's 58 told News 12, “Suffolk County Police and our onsite security staff responded quickly to safely handle the situation, and we determined it was appropriate for the casino and hotel to continue to operate.”

Hansen pleaded not guilty in court. His bail was set at $100,000 cash.
