Police: Man fatally shot on Poospatuck Lane in Mastic

Police say no arrests have been made at this time.

Police are searching for the person responsible for shooting a man and killing him on the Poospatuck Reservation in Mastic.
Suffolk Police Chief of Detectives John Rowan says police were called around 9:30 p.m. to 195 Poospatuck Lane for a man who was shot. Seventh Precinct patrol officers found 45-year-old Umar Elquhir suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Elquhir was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue where he was pronounced dead.
Police say no arrests have been made at this time. John Rowan, SCPD Chief of Detectives said, “The Poospatuck Reservation is a very close-knit community. We feel that due to the small amount of residents that live down there that someone may have information and we are imploring them to call us.”
