Police say an elderly man was beaten to death by his roommate at an assisted living facility in Suffolk.
It happened at the Lake Shore Adult Home in Lake Ronkonkoma on Saturday.
Investigators say 82-year-old Francis McCaffrey was attacked and killed by his roommate, 73-year-old Roger Diamond.
Diamond then allegedly jumped from a second-story window in a bid to escape.
Diamond was treated at a hospital and is being charged with second-degree murder, police say.
