Suffolk County homicide detectives say gunfire rang out twice at a strip club in Bohemia early Sunday morning, leaving a man dead.
Police were called to the Temptations Gentlemen's Club on Carlough Road at around 1 a.m.
They say the first of the two shootings happened at around 12:30 a.m., but nobody was struck and no one called 911.
Police say then, about 40 minutes later, gunshots were fired again. Investigators tell News 12 that Darryl Stewart, 27, was shot while standing outside of the club.
They say paramedics took Stewart to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. No other injuries were reported.
Police say the strip club was open and operating at the time of both shootings, even though the state Liquor Authority says exotic dancing is not allowed under any of New York's reopening phases.
It's not clear how many people were there, but police say there was a wild scene when the bullets went flying.
This incident is the third deadly shooting in Suffolk over the last four days and the second time shots were fired in Bohemia in three days.
Legislator Anthony Piccirillo, who represents the area, says police are working to find whomever's responsible for this spike in violence.
No arrests have been made. Anyone with information is asked to call Suffolk Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
