Police say a Hicksville man was charged with driving drunk in a hit-and-run crash that killed a bicyclist in Westbury early Sunday morning.
Detectives say a 2006 grey Chrysler was traveling eastbound on Old Country Road when it struck the bicyclist near the intersection of State Street just before 4 a.m.
They say 41-year-old Wilfredo Blanco Molina fled the scene and continued eastbound on Old Country Road.
The adult male bicyclist suffered extensive injuries and was pronounced at the scene, according to authorities.
Police say officers located Blanco Molina a short time later near the Wantagh State Parkway.
Police say he failed a sobriety test and was arrested without incident.
The officers also found a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine on Blanco Molina, according to detectives.
Blanco Molina was charged with vehicular manslaughter in the second degree, leaving the scene of an incident, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, and driving while intoxicated.
He was arraigned on Monday morning. He pleaded not guilty to the charges he is facing.
The victim had not been identified as of Sunday night.
