Police have arrested a 26-year-old man they say barricaded himself into his Woodbury home after chasing a naked 14-year-old girl.
The incident started around 9:15 a.m. Tuesday when a 911 call came in for an alarm that went off at a residence on Roseann Drive. Officers arrived and helped the girl.
Police say the man ran back into the home at 26 Roseann Drive, the same house police say the assault happened in.
Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder says that officers breached the home after hours of the suspect refusing to leave.
The police commissioner also said that police have had multiple domestic calls to the residence.
Police say the girl suffered cuts and bruises and is being taken care of at a hospital.
News 12 is told that a code officer for the Town of Oyster Bay came to the house earlier Tuesday to investigate complaints from neighbors about a dilapidated fence and possible squatters.
Police have not said how the victim knew the suspect, but say the 14-year-old came to the home on her own.
The houses around the suspect’s home were evacuated while the suspect was barricading himself.
A spokesperson for Syosset schools confirmed that four schools were on lockout until dismissal, but students were dismissed on time with extra security in place.
The district was in constant contact with the Nassau County Police Department and reassured that no students were in danger, according to the spokesperson.
