A Massachusetts man was arrested in Westbury Wednesday for allegedly stealing an arsenal of automatic weapons from a military facility.
James Walker Morales, 34, was wanted for allegedly stealing 16 military-grade weapons from an Army Reserve center in Worcester, Massachusetts, last weekend. He was arrested by the FBI and Nassau police at around 7 p.m. near BJ's Wholesale Club in Westbury.
Officials have not yet said what he was doing in Nassau County.
Federal officials say surveillance photos show the former Army reservist standing near where six rifles and 10 handguns were stolen. They say they identified Morales through bloodstains that were left at the scene.
The FBI also added that Morales was arrested for allegedly raping a child back in May. He was released on the condition he wear an electronic monitoring device. Officials say that tracking device put Morales directly inside the building where the guns were stolen from on that same night.
Federal agents say they used cellphone numbers found on Morales' Facebook page to track his movement, leading to his arrest on Brush Hollow Road.
