Police say a man has been
arrested for slashing another man with a machete inside a laundromat in Valley
Stream. 

Police were called to Laundry
Palace on West Merrick Road early Tuesday morning and found the victim lying on
the floor. 

Detectives say 30-year-old
Roberto Velasquez got into a fight with the victim, slashing him multiple times
with a machete. 

The man was taken to the
hospital and is in critical condition this morning.

Velasquez was arrested a
short time later. 

Velasquez is facing attempted
murder and assault charges.

A suspect is facing a judge today accused of attacking a man with a machete. Police say this happened inside a Laundromat in Valley stream and his 12 Jen Celik has more on it. An employee who did not witness that attack. He was in the basement at the time says the incident was all caught on camera. We know the victim, a male in his fifties in critical condition after he was attacked by a machete. It all happened here at Laundry Palace in Valley Stream. Police got calls in the early morning hours yesterday here at Laundry Palace, a 24 hour laundromat on West Merrick Road and found the victim inside lying on the ground in that store. Detectives say 30 year old Roberto Velazquez slashed the victim multiple times with a machete. Velazquez was quickly brought into custody and is now facing attempted murder and assault charges. One customer this morning shocked about the incident. He says he specifically comes here during the early morning hours because it's usually quiet and not as busy. Wow, that's crazy. I hope the guys okay. Hope you hope he recovers. Yeah, I come here all the time. I wouldn't I wouldn't expect that here, Valley Stream is usually pretty, pretty safe for the most part, Velasquez who police say is homeless is expected to be arraigned today in Court in Valley Stream.
