Three shots rang out at the Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City Wednesday evening, police say.

They say it happened around 6:30 p.m. as two men exchanged words with another man and woman outside the second-floor garage at Nordstrom.

Police say the woman and man ran into a store after being shot at. The store was placed into lockdown as a precaution.

Several other stores in the mall were also locked down as the shooting triggered fears of an active shooter situation.

No injuries were reported.

Police say the two suspects fled the scene.

Officials are searching for a gray Mercedes with New Jersey license plates that was last spotted going southbound on the Meadowbrook Parkway.

Police are also searching for the man and woman who were shot at.
