Police responded to a Wendy’s restaurant on Austin Boulevard in Island Park just after midnight, where Alvarenga allegedly stabbed and killed a 42-year-old woman, who was his coworker, as she was taking out the garbage.

The second deadly stabbing allegedly took place on Mineola Avenue in Valley Stream a few hours later, according to police.

They say the 32-year-old woman had stab wounds to the neck and torso, similar to the injuries of the 42-year-old victim.

Investigators stated that Alvarenga called the police and told them he had stabbed someone. He was then arrested outside a 7-Eleven in Lynbrook.

Police say Alvarenga came into the United States illegally in 2016 when he was 12 years old. He is currently facing multiple murder charges.
