Police say a driver was killed and his passenger was injured in a crash in Brightwaters early Saturday morning.
Authorities say 25-year-old John Koch III, of Lindenhurst, struck the median on Union Boulevard, then slammed into a pole and crashed into a tree.
Koch was pronounced dead at Southside Hospital.
Police say the woman in the passenger seat suffered injuries that are not considered life-threatening.
The cause of the crash is unknown.
