A Huntington Station man was shot and killed Saturday when he answered a knock at his front door, Suffolk police say.
Officers responded to 21 East 12th St. at around 11:35 p.m. after they say 32-year-old Roquez Villalta-Jimenez was shot at his home.
Villalta-Jimenez was transported to Huntington Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
"I said to my wife that sounds like an odd sound like gun shots," said a neighbor of Villalta-Jimenez. "Can you check the cameras? We checked the cameras. We didn't see anything but then the police rolled up."
Police have not released any information on a motive or who could have shot Villalta-Jimenez.
Earlier this month, a man was fatally shot at his front door at another home in Huntington Station. There's no information as to whether there's a connection between the two incidents.
In July, Suffolk District Attorney and State Assemblyman Steve Stern called for the
return of ShotSpotter technology, a device which detects the sound of gun shots, records the area and sends the information to police in Huntington Station.
Detectives ask anyone with information on this incident to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
