Police: Human remains found at Smith Point County Park in Shirley

AB:Suffolk County police were called at around 4:55 p.m. when a man and woman were walking on the beach and found what appeared to be a human jawbone.

AB:Suffolk County police were called at around 4:55 p.m. when a man and woman were walking on the beach and found what appeared to be a human jawbone.

Human remains were found at Smith Point County Park in Shirley Monday evening, police say.

Suffolk County police were called at around 4:55 p.m. when a man and woman were walking on the beach and found what appeared to be a human jawbone. They brought the remains to a park attendant working at the beach.

The Suffolk County Medical Examiner determined the remains are human. They were transported to the medical examiner’s office for identification.

Detectives are asking anyone with information to contact the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392.
