Police: Hit-and-run driver struck woman helping dog in Bay Shore

Police are looking for the hit-and-run driver who injured a woman that pulled over to help a dog in Bay Shore.
According to police, the incident happened on 5th Avenue near Inchcape Road just before 11 p.m. Monday.
Police say the 36-year-old woman stopped to help an injured dog, but was hit by a car after getting out of her car. The car never stopped.
The victim was taken to Southside Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The dog died at the scene.
