A Hempstead man wanted for murder in Honduras has been taken into ICE custody after being arrested Monday, Nassau County police say.

They say 32-year-old Oscar Romero Murcia allegedly violated an order of protection Saturday.

Romero Murcia was told to stay away from a victim's residence following a September robbery. He was released on $15,000 cash bail for that incident.

After he was arrested Monday, he was turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement because of the active warrant for murder in Honduras.
