A former bus driver for the William Floyd School District is facing charges for possessing child pornography, according to police.

Authorities say 71-year-old Guenther Mayrhofer is accused of having the material on cellphones, tablets, laptops and other devices.

The electronics were seized from the Mastic Beach resident’s home, according to police.

Officials say Mayrhofer was a bus driver employed by First Student Transportation, a bus contractor for the school district.

The district says it decertified him after learning of his arrest.

The bus company did not return News 12 calls for comment.
