A Roosevelt man is facing charges for driving while intoxicated Saturday night and causing a fatal crash, according to police.
Nassau police say the 30-year-old victim was "traveling eastbound on Prospect Avenue prior to making a left turn northbound on Cantiague Rock Road."
He then then "struck a 2005 Honda traveling westbound on Prospect Avenue."
The man's car was then engulfed in flames, trapping and killing him.
Police identified the driver of the Honda as 42-year-old Miguel Nolasco. The charges against him include vehicular manslaughter and DWI.
Authorities say Nolasco is expected to be arraigned on the charges after he recovers from his injuries.
"He was a great father. He loved his children and his children loved him. This is something terrible," a friend of the victim told News 12.
Drivers who passed by the aftermath of the crash were shocked.
"It's heartbreaking to know that someone lost their life," says Kelly Jones, of Westbury.
