Police: Farmingdale woman scammed Texas man out of $9,000 with fake lotto scheme

Police say Michelle McIntosh told the Texas man he won the lottery.

A Farmingdale woman will face a judge today after allegedly scamming a 72-year-old man out of thousands of dollars.

Police say Michelle McIntosh told the Texas man he won the lottery.

McIntosh was then told to pay a $9,000 fee to claim his prize.

After sending the money, police say the man became suspicious and contacted his local police department.

That police department then flagged the Nassau County Police Department.

When McIntosh went to pick up the package at the Hicksville post office, officers were there waiting and took her into custody.The woman is charged with grand larceny.
