Police: Eastern Suffolk BOCES teacher arrested for sexual relationship with student

An Eastern Suffolk Boards of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) teacher was arrested Tuesday for engaging in a sexual relationship with a student in 2020.

Following an investigation by Special Victims Section detectives, William Sperl was arrested at Eastern Suffolk BOCES in Bellport at around noon.

Sperl is an audio production teacher for the Riverhead campus of Eastern Suffolk BOCES and engaged.

He is accused of having a sexual relationship with a female student in 2020 while the student was a minor.

The Deer Park man was charged with four counts of rape in the third degree and seven counts of criminal sex act in the third degree.

Sperl is being held overnight at the Third Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Wednesday.
