A Glen Cove father is accused of driving drunk at more than 100 miles per hour with his children in the car.
State police say they stopped 49-year-old Mark Palmer on Sunrise Highway in Hampton Bays on Wednesday.
Police say Palmer was going 106 miles per hour in his Dodge Ram pickup truck and failed a sobriety test.
His children, ages 6, 9 and 11, were released to a family member. Police say Palmer told them that he was in a hurry to drop off his kids with their mother and catch a flight.
Palmer spent New Year's Eve behind bars and was arraigned in Southampton Town Justice Court on New Year's Day. He pleaded not guilty and was released on $4,900 bail.
He is being charged with felony DWI and endangering the welfare of children. According to court records, Palmer pleaded guilty to driving while impaired last month.
If convicted under Leandra's Law, he could serve four years in prison.
