A Patchogue woman allegedly attempting to smuggle drugs to her jailbird boyfriend was busted by police Friday.
Authorities say they caught 27-year-old Allison Waluk pass a package of heroin to her boyfriend Alfonso Santiago, an inmate at Yaphank Correctional Facility, during visiting hours. Police ended the visit after allegedly spotting Waluk reach into her bra and hand Santiago a suspicious object.
Police say they uncovered a balloon filled with five packages of heroin following a strip search of Santiago. A hypodermic needle was also found inside Waluk?s car, according to authorities.
Waluk is being charged with promoting prison contraband and possession of a hypodermic instrument. Authorities say the woman has a history with drugs dating back at least to 2001. Santiago is facing additional jail time for the incident as well.
